What does the research support PEMF for?

These answers report what published trials found for pain, sleep and inflammation, with the study, the sample and the grade named in each case. Claims are limited to what the cited record supports, and every answer links to the full record. Written for buyers weighing the evidence before purchase.

    Can PEMF help with pain?

There is evidence for pain reduction in osteoarthritis. A 2024 systematic review of 17 studies (Cianni et al., 2024, PMID 38610722, grade A-) reported a 60% decrease in VAS pain scores and a 42% improvement in WOMAC scores. Read the full record in our research library.

    Does PEMF help with sleep?

Sleep is the best supported application in our library. In a four-week double-blind, placebo-controlled study of 101 patients (Pelka et al., 2001, PMID 11697020, grade A-), 70% of treated patients experienced substantial or complete relief of their insomnia. A 2023 multicenter randomized controlled trial (Liao et al., 2023, DOI 10.30773/pi.2022.0362, grade A-) found 69.7% of the PEMF group no longer had clinically significant insomnia, against 35.1% on sham.

    Can PEMF help with inflammation?

The C-reactive protein finding in our library comes from biofeedback, not PEMF. In a study of chronic pain patients who completed six electrodermal biofeedback sessions over three weeks (Oschman et al., 2019, PMID 30805908, grade B), perceived pain and blood C-reactive protein concentrations both fell significantly. The study was small and had no blinded sham comparison.
